James joins CKM Sports Management having recently completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from the University of British Columbia. Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, James moved out to Vancouver after receiving a scholarship to play football.
Growing up James played a wide range of sports, including hockey, many at a very high level, several of which were at a provincial level. These experiences gave him an inside perspective on the wants and needs of high level athletes at the high school level. His high performance athletic career continued at UBC where James competed against the best varsity football players in the country for five years, many of whom went on to play professionally in the CFL and NFL. These experiences have given him the knowledge of what it takes to compete at a high level and how to balance those demands with academic responsibilities.
Requiring two knee surgeries while only in university, James’ football career came to a pre-mature end after his last game at UBC. Moving into the professional ranks after college, James has stayed close to the world of sports and had been looking for a way to get closer to young athletes looking for an edge as they pursue their careers.
Working for CKM Sports Management gives James the opportunity to work closely with elite young talent and to use his skills and experiences to help them achieve their ultimate goal of playing professional hockey.
